A challenge with researching / Internship?

Of the many challenges with researching, the one I find most troubling is validating facts. Anyone could find information on the web, in a library, or in newspapers; the hard part is to find credible sources. Of the three, the web is the least credible. However, it is also the easiest and fastest, so many journalists and researchers tend to go to that first. Researching on the web can be fast and easy, but it also calls for cross-checking your sources which could be tedious.

Currently I am looking for an internship, but it will not be in the field of journalism. I have a strong feeling that journalism is not my "calling." I say this because I have no interest in what goes on in the world today. Apathy is a bad trait to have, but I've learned to accept the fact that I cannot change this.
